It's suppose to be hot this opening weekend of Montana's archery season. Despite the heat we're seeing elk and deer everywhere so hoping that's a sign of a good season ahead of us. We're always facing new challenges each day with weather conditions, changing wind directions, hunter involement, ranching operations, and wild animals which places a lot of variables into the equation searching for success each and every day. The goal at the end of the hunt is always trying to get hunters shot opportunities and all these factors play a role in whether or not hunters are successful. Sometimes it comes down to a split second decision or one more step that makes or breaks a hunt.
The elk haven't been bugling much yet but it's still early and things will pick up by mid September. The good news is we are seeing good numbers of elk and deer and once the food sources start shrinking and the weather turns colder those numbers we see always go up. So far so good here in Southwestern Montana!
