Another season is about to get underway here in Montana. We have 3 archery elk hunters for opening week. We got some new elk property and we are seeing elk on both of the new pieces. This first week will be a little early for the elk rut but we've already heard some bugling. We set some new ladders stands over creek crossing for elk and deer as both are using these crossings. The weather has been hot and we have more trail cameras to check and I'll be posting more of those pictures as we head into this first week of bow season.

So far we've seen some nice whitetail bucks. All the stands have been checked and we got rid of plenty of bees. We even nicknamed a new stand we set the "Stinger" because I got drilled taking the stand into the spot. The hornet nests are hiding in the grass and I think we got rid of all of them on the acess trails into the stands.

Most of the trail camera cards are set for elk as we try to stay out of the high grass around the riverbottom and stand areas and glass from a distance for deer. So far so good on sightings with some nice bucks. I'll hopefully be making more journal entires this Fall but once the season gets underway there's no guarantee as I generally have my hands full. Keep checking for updates and I'll try to post pics when I can.

Thanks for following,

Keith Miller
