Our first whitetail deer hunter of the year tags out on a giant bodied 8 point at 28 yards on his 2nd day of hunting. Congratulations! The weather turned rainy and cool with strong winds yesterday and continues today. One of the elk hunters sitting in a hyabale blind had a bull at 50 yards last evening in a alfalfa field but elected not to take the shot waiting for it to come to the cows feeding 30 yards from him. The bull never committed to get closer. He was sitting a ladder stand this morning in the high wind and rain and had a nice 6x6 bull walk through 3 times, once chasing a cow at 60 yards. This afternoon the rain will stop however the wind will still be howling. Hoping for the weather to get better and the aniamls should move really good after this storm passes.
